HOW I SHOOT WEDDINGS
IS THAT CAMERA POINTING AT ME?
If you're a little apprehensive about some nut job (me) pointing a camera at you on your wedding day then let's talk about a pre-wedding shoot.
We'll go somewhere cool and take some nice photos for you to give to your parents, put on your invites, chuck 'em on the fridge - all that good stuff. You'll get used to me, I'll see what makes you tick, win-win.
My approach to capturing your memories is pretty simple. When it's necessary I'll be as unnoticeable as possible while grabbing beautiful images of those important and special moments. During the ceremony, you don't want to be thinking about me and where I am, you want to be focused on the moment and experience it in its entirety.
I'll take you away from the craziness and excitement for a short while, just the two of you and let you have a few minutes to chill and let it all sink in. I won't pose you unless you want me to, I'll capture these moments as naturally as possible. I do like to get creative and shoot some really cool, artistic photos for you, so we'll usually find a couple of nice spots and get some nice photos while we have the time.
Group shots are usually a necessity, but not always. Some people want strict documentary coverage and no portraits at all, but most people want a few family photos. I mean, you know these are the ones your parents will want on the sideboard, right?
We'll get these formal ones done quickly so you can crack on with your day, then if at any point you want a photo with someone else, just grab me and we'll do it there and then. Splitting them up like this keeps it fun and keeps the energy of the day going. Trust me on this one, it makes a mahoosive difference!
I want to make something clear in advance... I will be on the dance floor, I will be dancing with my camera, and I might even have a shandy. I don't leave after the first dance... I don't know why any photographer would when the second dance is well better - you're rocking with your people! I'd hate to leave just as the party get's going. I'll stay until I've got the shots I need to tell the whole story. I won't be there until 2 am, but I also won't be running off before the party get's going. Why would I want to miss the best night ever?
