I met Steph and Will at their friends Becca and Greg's Wedding. It's funny how thing pan out - I've actually shot several weddings for people I met at that wedding, but since Steph + Wills wedding - Will and I have bonded over a love for photography and he is now my go to second shooter for weddings and a really good friend. Wow I think I wrote the word wedding 5 times there and it was almost all one sentence - but life is too short to write it again. Soz.
Peckforton Castle is an actual fucking castle. If you're having a wedding in Cheshire - this is one hell of a backdrop for it. Inside it's dark and mysterious with little slivers of light coming in through tiny windows and it gives the photos a good old bit of drama. Steph and Will put so much effort into every tiny detail and it really paid off - a special mention to the matching red glittery shoes - hell yeah!
I learned something about myself at this wedding - I have like an actual fear of birds of prey. Steph and Will told me they were having a falconry display during the the reception, which is actually a really sick idea. Everyone was really entertained and most people got actively involved, holding the birds and all sorts... but then it came time to make a tunnel of humans for the birds to fly through and this leaves one place for the photographer to capture it - right at the end, camera in hand, and ready for a massive feathery beast to fly directly at them.
I held my breath, closed my eyes, mashed the shutter button and hoped for the best. Well, not really. I'm just trying to add a bit of drama - but I was bricking it all the same. Anyway the shots came out great and I survived.
Believe it or not - neither Steph's amazing hair nor the flying winged daemons were the most wild thing about this wedding. Wait until you see the fucking size of the dress. I have no idea how she managed to wear it all day, it must have weighed 50 kilos, but fair play - she did it and even danced the night away in it too and it looked incredible!
