So you're getting married? Congratulations!
here are 5 tips from folkstar photography on how to make your wedding unforgettable
We've all been to that one wedding to end all weddings. Some people have a knack for just getting it right and after shooting countless amazing weddings - here are my tips on making yours a banger that all of your guests will talk about for years to come.
number one
Plan a party, not a wedding!
If there's only one tip you take from blog post, make it this one. A wedding is a celebration of your commitment to each other - so planning your wedding with the party in mind makes all the difference.
Obv, the ceremony is important, but it's actually the shortest part of the whole day. Planning a good piss up and a laugh with your fave peeps should be numero uno.
number two
Do it your way.
It's super easy to fall into the trap of trying to please others when planning your wedding but the only opinions that matter are yours and your partner's (yours most though, duh).
It might be a tricky conversation if a parent is helping to fund the day and wants to have their input - but it's totally worth being brave and telling them it's your wedding and you're doing it your own way.
The more of your personalities you can get into the day the better. Think odd venue choices like old warehouses or breweries. Think tables named after band you've seen live together. Think bog standard registry office to tick the box and then a sunset ceremony on a cliff - even if it's in the UK!
number three
Stay organised.
Whether its handwritten in a big old notepad, notion boards up the Ganjes or an epic excel spreadsheet - get your sh*t together!
It'll help with budgeting, allocating responsibilities, vendor contact details and everything else. Seems simple - but not keeping on top of it can make planning a wedding so much harder.
number four
Have someone keep the day on track.
...that isn't you!
Whether you're DIYing it in a field or swanking it up at a luxury venue - make sure someone is responsible for the timings of the day and make sure this isn't you! If you're stressing and whipping out your stop watch all day - you won't be relaxed and nothing kills the vibe of the day harder than a stressed out bride or groom.
Get yourself a Monica Geller, so you can get your Phoebs on.
number five
Remember to stop take it all in.
I've got your back when it comes to documenting the day - but you want to experience it to the max while it's happening.
Often my couples will tell me that they went from bricking it in the morning to it all being over in the blink of an eye - and if you don't stop to take it all in - you might just miss it!
This is such a special day, so try to be present and don't just go through the motions of mingling and working the room without really soaking in the magic.
